A 'BABY FRIENDLY' QUADRUPLEX WITHOUT BARRIERS

A four-story single-family home in Madrid.

The interior designer Alberto Torres, from Interior Studio of PortobelloStreet, signs the comprehensive renovation project for this 366m2 single-family home distributed over four floors with a terrace and garden in Madrid. The priority for its owners, a young couple with a young son and a baby on the way, was to create baby-friendly environments to achieve maximum security at home.

Spaces without fear
In the decorative intervention, risks have been taken and styles such as industrial, home sweet home, minimalist, classic English and Italian comfort have been mixed, all coexisting in harmony and demonstrating that richness lies in the combination. The entrance wall already alludes to this overlapping of styles, showing different planes of color that overlap each other.

Open spaces
The renovation has focused on the creation of open spaces that would not cut off the view or the passage of light. Barrier-free floor plans to achieve maximum spatial flexibility and fluid, intuitive and effortless use. “That is the maximum expression of comfort,” says Alberto Torres.

Cleanliness and order as a common thread
Some of the most important premises of the renovation were the use of natural light and the use of noble and natural materials such as wood and leather that have been occasionally combined with metal, glass and porcelain to achieve a subtle balance of textures.
