Malasaña Attic, Madrid

Life under the rafters

The Malasaña attic finds its identity in the sloping roof and the exposed wooden beams. On top of this expressive structure, the white walls and light flooring build a luminous base that allows the space to be read from end to end. The variable height of the ceiling provides rhythm and accompanies the succession of the different environments.

The kitchen is arranged in a linear front of white furniture, with a wood-tone countertop and a high shelf populated with plants. The lighting under that shelf highlights the vegetation and adds depth to an area of contained dimensions. A table with a transparent surface and a black suspended lamp define the dining room without visually overloading the passage. In the living room, the curves of the blue sofa and the mustard armchair contrast with the geometry of the beams; The light tables and the printed rug complete a cheerful corner.

The bedroom maintains the same continuity of whites and wood, with soft textiles, a simple headboard and a large format photograph. The presence of plants links the environments. In the bathroom area, the transparent screen, the light sink and the mirror avoid introducing visually heavy volumes. The result is an interior that makes the uniqueness of the roof its main resource, balancing the character of the wood with contemporary furniture and well-defined color accents.
